A couple of days ago, rumors began surfacing regarding Microsoft expanding its portfolio by purchasing up other studios and publishers. While EA was the most prominent one, Valve was another one of the companies that popped up in the rumor.

Now we know that the latter is actually false, Gabe Newell himself confirmed to a fan via email. Newell said that he is “not aware” of Valve being bought out by Microsoft. So, that ends that.

With regards to EA, however, we haven’t heard anything yet. That being said, Microsoft did recently purchase cloud engine company, PlayFab, so at least we do know that Microsoft is actually in the market to buy up other companies
